Hardware Developer (m/f/d) Industrial Sensor Technology & Electronics Development
Full-time · Darmstadt · hybrid possible
HCP Sense specializes in preventive, intelligent monitoring of rolling bearings, which ensure reliable and low-friction rotational movements in machines and systems. Our unique, patented combination of sensors, edge computing, and artificial intelligence ensures that energy losses are minimized and bearing damage is reliably prevented. This guarantees smooth operation of, for example, wind turbines, fans, and pumps. Founded in 2021 as a spin-off of TU Darmstadt, HCP Sense already serves more than 40 customers across Europe with our resource-efficient and sustainable solutions.
You will develop excellent measurement hardware that operates reliably in harsh industrial environments.

Your Role
As a Hardware Developer (m/f/d), you will be part of our electronics team and take responsibility for the development of our innovative inductive sensor system – from the prototype phase to market launch.
• Development, design, and testing of analog and digital circuits in the field of impedance-based measurement technology
• Conceptualization and implementation of hardware prototypes, including schematics, PCB layout, and component selection
• Development up to series maturity, including validation, in collaboration with development partners (E2MS)
• Execution and support of system tests in real machine environments (including on-site at customer locations)
• Collaboration with internal partners (sensors, firmware, algorithms) for the integration of the complete system
• Creation of a simulation model of the entire system to optimize sensor performance
• Development of embedded firmware
• Preparation of technical documentation and certification materials

Your Profile
Professional Qualifications:
• Completed degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar, or equivalent qualification (e.g., technician)
• Experience in developing, coordinating, and tracking hardware specifications, ideally in collaboration with external development partners
• Solid knowledge in analog electronics, signal processing, and EMC-compliant hardware design
• Experience with development processes up to series production (including testing and certification processes)
• Ideally, experience with impedance-based sensors or comparable industrial measurement technology
• Proficient in EDA tools (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad, Eagle)
• Basic knowledge in firmware development (C/C++, optionally VHDL/FPGA)
Personal Competencies:• High level of personal responsibility, goal orientation, and technical quality awareness
• Ability to independently analyze problems in complex electromechanical systems
• Strong communication and teamwork skills when working with internal and external partners
• Willingness to familiarize oneself with new technical fields (e.g., parasitic effects, system simulation)
