How many pumps are operating in an industrial park with more than 90 companies and around 800 km of pipelines? 🧐

I couldn’t find an official figure, but my estimate is well into the tens of thousands. And every single one depends on its bearings. ⚙️

🏭 It was fascinating to see what makes an integrated industrial site so special: companies share energy, raw materials, and infrastructure. The combined heat and power plant makes use of around 90% of the primary energy supplied. Waste is processed at Europe’s largest industrial biogas plant, and the site is home to the world’s largest distribution system for pharmaceutical-grade water.

✈️ INERATEC provides a concrete example of this approach. At its ERA ONE plant, e-fuels are produced, including synthetic kerosene for aviation. The CO₂ comes from the biogas plant, while the hydrogen is sourced from chlorine production – both supplied directly by neighbouring facilities within the industrial park.

🏛️ To round off the visit, we explored the Peter Behrens Building. Built between 1920 and 1924, it features an Expressionist-style light hall with three glass domes. Today, it serves as the headquarters of Infraserv GmbH & Co. Höchst KG.
