We write and talk to AI every day. But how does a machine actually communicate with us?
The answer: through 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐬.
A big thank you to Roland H. Papesch and the team at the VDMA Forum Security and Defence Industry for a great day filled with presentations, analyses, and many valuable conversations. 👍🏼
In my presentation for HCP Sense, two things were particularly important to me:
🎯 The practical value: We turn standard bearings into sensors that allow us not just to detect bearing damage after it has already occurred, but to prevent it by monitoring its underlying causes.
💡 Another key message, one that is also important to me in my role on the board of the AMA Association for Sensor Technology and Measurement: AI is only as good as the data it receives. Without sensors, machines remain silent to AI.
If Europe wants to manufacture and scale faster, 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 are just as important as great ideas. That is exactly why this exchange is so valuable.
I’m looking forward to the follow-up discussions! 💬
Where do you see the biggest blind spots in your facilities, where you’re currently missing the data you need?
