⚓ Greetings from Hamburg!
Battery energy storage is THE big topic at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026. 🔋
Around 3,600 m² of exhibition space are dedicated to energy storage, grid stability, and intelligent energy management.
The reason? In Germany alone, almost €600 million was lost in 2024 because wind turbines had to be curtailed when the electricity they generated could not be fed into the grid. Energy storage is expected to help solve this challenge. 🔌
⚙️ As exciting as energy storage is, electricity must first be generated reliably. Rotating components such as main, gearbox, and pitch bearings operate under extreme conditions in wind turbines – and that is exactly where HCP Sense comes in.
As already hinted at during the previous event, plain bearings seem to be appearing more frequently than traditional rolling-element bearings. I’m curious to see how they perform in real-world applications.
💡 There were also some great discussions today with the VDMA Wind Industry Working Group, including how digitalization and condition monitoring can become increasingly integrated across the sector.
What is the biggest topic on your mind right now – energy storage, grid expansion, or the good old challenge of reliability?
